Monarda fistulosa

Bees and butterflies are particularly attracted to the flowers of and in addition to this Monarda attracts beneficial insects, so definitely a plant that is a great addition to any garden. Monarda performs best in full sun but will cope with partial shade as well as being able to handle a variety of conditions from wet to dry. The young minty leaves can be used in flavouring meat and the petals are edible and can be used in salads. It is a great companion plant for tomatoes and said to improve both growth and flavour. As if that wasn’t enough they also make a great cut and dried flower. what’s not to love!
