High Country Tussock
Sensual, alluring, ravishing. Inspiring and seductive. Sun-dried grasses, aromatic wildflowers and sweet ripe seed-heads, cedar-wood and ginger. All poised in warm autumn air, with hints of honey and spice, in the rich sunlight of our flowing, wide-open spaces.
Twenty botanicals, with extracts of sustainably harvested South Island native plants: koromiko (willow-leaf hebe), Hebe salicifolia, and harakeke (Aotearoa New Zealand flax or kōrari, ‘inflorescence’), Phormium tenax.
Our native plant extracts: Koromiko is a willowy plant with fragrant lilac-to-white flowers, known for its healing and skin-soothing properties. Providing nectar for native butterflies, it flourishes amid the tussock and snow-grasses (Chionochloa sp.) of our Aotearoa New Zealand high country, mixing with alpine buttercups (Ranunculus sp.), spear grasses (Aciphylla sp.) and mountain flaxes (Phormium cookianum sp.) to create a deeply sensuous bouquet.
The tall sword-shaped leaves of harakeke are an iconic feature of our landscape. With stems of up to four metres, tube-like flowers turning red in summer — full of nectar for native birds — this plant too is highly valued for its skin-enhancing properties.
