The painting '' tells the myth of Mami Wata, a powerful and complex water spirit venerated in many African and African diasporic traditions. Often depicted as a beautiful woman—she embodies the mysteries of water, beauty, wealth, fertility, healing, and sometimes danger. Mami Wata can bring both blessings and misfortune, depending on how she is honored or disrespected.

Mami Wata represents the deep, unpredictable, and sacred power of water—capable of giving life, taking it, and transforming it. The painting tells the story of the deep, unconditional love between humans and the element of water.
