Black Folklore Straight Bowl

This low, straight-sided bowl has been part of the collection since Marumitsu Poterie was founded in Seto in 1950.

Made from Shigaraki clay and hand-glazed in Kurogaki by skilled craftsmen, the glaze is brushed on rather than dipped, leaving subtle circular brush strokes across the surface. The black shifts with warm brown and charcoal tones, creating a naturally varied finish that changes with the light.

At 16cm across and 5cm deep, its low, straight-sided shape keeps the focus on the food. Perfect for breakfast bowls, salads, rice, side dishes or dessert, it’s an easy size to use throughout the day.
