Soap making (Ōtautahi)

In this introductory soap-making workshop, Sonia will share her methods of creating gentle and non-drying soap that contains shea butter, coconut oil and olive oil. You’ll learn the basics of the soap-making process and how to customise it to suit your needs. You’ll gain a deeper appreciation for the products we use daily and discover a more sustainable, personal alternative to store-bought soaps. By the end of the session, you’ll take home a handmade bar of soap to cure, sample, and inspire your soap-making journey. Please note

- Safety is important in this workshop as we will be working with lye, a chemical that can cause injury. Please rest assured that every precaution will be taken to ensure safety, and Sonia brings many years of experience and a strong focus on safe practice.
- Please wear long sleeves, long trousers, and closed-in footwear to protect against any spills.
- Please bring safety glasses. Regular glasses or sunglasses are acceptable if you are comfortable using them, though safety glasses are preferable. A limited number will be available if you forget.
- Please bring reusable dishwashing gloves to protect your hands (not disposable gloves).
- We also suggest that you bring along a face mask for the mixing portion of the workshop.
- All other materials and tools will be supplied.
- This workshop is suitable for children aged 13 years and over when attending with a supervising adult, or for those 16 years and over who can attend independently. Please note that if a young person attends, two workshop places must be purchased (one for the young person and one for the accompanying adult). Cancellation

Bookings are non-refundable. If for any reason (this includes illness, travel delays, and injuries) you need to cancel your workshop, you will receive a refund minus a $30 administration fee. This is provided you at least 14 full days before your booking.
