Large marsden flower matau

This is a large colourful matau with contrasting flower & dark greenstone.

The matau is a strong symbol, representing good luck and safe travel across water.

Marsden Flower Greenstone comes from the Marsden area of the West Coast of New Zealand. The gold-coloured variegation in the piece is called "flower" and makes this type of greenstone particularly valued and distinctive.
