Highlighting the connection between wāhine, te moana, and marine conservation through partnership with Arataki Dive and Manta Watch we present our beautiful new offering!
They’ve always been here…The kaitiaki of Tikapa Moana and this summer, we’re heading out to meet them. Together, we’ll learn from the Manta Watch team, contributing to their citizen science mahi (work) while soaking up all the fascinating knowledge about the manta ray population here in Aotearoa. With all our fingers (and fins!) crossed, we’ll be hoping to spot these gentle giants — and if conditions are just right, we may even get the chance for a guided encounter alongside them.
Between manta spotting, our Salt freedive instructors will also be setting the line so you can get in some dedicated freediving time too — a perfect mix of learning, exploration, and connection.
Please note: Because Tangaroa and Hinemoana have their own plans, we can’t guarantee manta sightings or swims — but that’s part of the magic. Even if the mantas are shy, there’ll be plenty of wildlife to see, caves to explore, and snacks to share along the way.
