Heat loss prevention: Lined curtains offer great thermal properties, and reduce heat loss during winter. When curtains are closed, air is trapped between the curtains and the glass of the window. Thermal lined curtains and blinds work to maintain a constant temperature by slowing down the movement of heat across and out windows and their frames. Full length curtains (that touch the floor) also further prevent air movement. Lined curtains also reduce heat gain in summer.
