Dancers at the Barre

a captivating piece of 19th century art that was started by celebrated French artist Edgar Degas in the 1880's and worked on by Degas for the next 20 years of his life. The two dancers are the main focal point of this piece and are stretching at the Barre, slowly moving and warming up - for a ballet dancers day always begins at the Barre. Degas showcases these two dancers in their identical blue tutu's at opposing angles at the Barre and manages to make these dancers bend, stretch and twist with his use of oil and pastel on canvas. The magnetic colour palette completes this masterful piece of art with a burnt orange wall and contrasting blues and whites brings Degas's dancers to life. A stunning reproduction worthy of a special place in a contemporary or vintage inspired interior decor.
