On Lake Attersee
Austrian artist Gustav Klimt spent many summer holidays at his much loved Lake Attersee during 1900 and 1916. was painted by Klimt in 1900, where he captures the idyllic shimmering movement of the water with jewel like turquoise pigments underneath the morning summer sky. Almost abstract in colour and composition fills the canvas with an enchanting waterscape reminiscent of one of French artist Monet's impressionist masterpieces. Klimt has created a perception of depth with the easing strokes of the ripples on the surface of the water and encompassed the darkened tree tops of the island of Lizlberg in the top right hand corner almost parallel with the horizon. by far Gustav Klimt's most abstract piece of art, projecting a luminous colour palette with a rhythmic movement of waves combine to create a mesmerizing piece of art.
