The Great Wave off Kanagawa
Katsushika Hokusai created the iconic woodblock print between 1829 and 1833. This impressive artwork portrays an enormous imminent wave, with claw like arcs, just moments before crashing down onto three fishing boats. With Mt. Fuji in the distance, almost unseen by the use of Hokusai's perspective, appears as if it too will be swallowed up by the wave and the spray. The rogue wave imagery and berlin blue pigments is undeniably Hokusai's most famous and celebrated art pieces. This stunning art print is worthy of a special place in both contemporary and vintage interior decors.
