Stained Glass Window

Banksy's was created for the first major US museum exhibition of street art and graffiti at the MOCA's Art in the Street in 2011. Banksy's stood 23 foot high and was a collaborative effort as Banksy enlisted the help of students from the City of Angels School in Los Angeles. Panels were erected at the school and the students were encouraged to tag them with their own personal designs and messages. Banksy then used the children's efforts as the stained glass panels of the windows. The irreverent child kneeling in front draws extra light in this piece and encourages the viewer to convert this piece from museum worthy to a church effigy as well as the elevation of graffiti to high art. A stunning piece of contemporary graffiti history worthy of a special place in a modern inspired interior decor setting.
