Discover the Magic of Barokah Kerinci Natural Coffee
If you’re after a coffee with a story, Barokah Kerinci Natural is it. Grown on the lush slopes of Mount Kerinci in Sumatra, this coffee is all about passion, collaboration, and innovation. The 320 farmers of the Koerintji Barokah Bersama Cooperative cultivate their beans in rich volcanic soil, a gift of Mount Kerinci—one of the mighty volcanoes in the Pacific Ring of Fire. This vibrant ecosystem gives their coffee its unique character and depth.
A Cooperative Built on Connection It’s not just the volcanic soil that makes this coffee special. It’s the people. Led by the visionary Triyono, the cooperative was established in 2017 and has since become a hub for quality and sustainability. Picture this: a fully kitted-out roasting facility complete with a cupping lab right next to their dry mill. Yep, they’re serious about their coffee.
The farmers here don’t just grow coffee; they’re part of a movement. Traditionally, smallholder farmers struggled to get fair prices for their cherries, but working together in cooperatives has changed the game. They now share resources, learn together, and negotiate better deals.
From Harvest to Your Cup The coffee journey starts with careful handpicking by the farmers and their families. Once harvested, the cherries head to one of nine local collection centers (UPH). Each center is like a mini washing station, where cherries are sorted, processed, and prepared for the next step.
Here’s where it gets really cool: the Natural process. The ripe cherries are carefully selected, floated to remove any duds,Ripe cherries are dried whole commonly on patio’s, drying beds or even the bare earth allowing the bean to ferment naturally encased by its fruit. The cherries are turned regularly to reduce the risk of defects and ensure even drying. Once the cherries resemble raisins and the target parameters are met the coffee is hulled and sorted in the dry mill.
What’s in the Cup? Barokah Kerinci Natural is a sensory adventure. Think bold, boozy notes balanced by dark chocolate & maple syrup sweetness. Every sip carries the essence of its volcanic roots and the meticulous care of its makers.
Coffee with Heart When you buy this coffee, you’re not just getting an amazing brew—you’re supporting a community. The cooperative reinvests profits into better infrastructure and shares earnings with farmers. They also provide seedlings for shade trees and technical support to improve farming practices. It’s coffee with a conscience.
