The Terracotta Army was constructed to accompany the tomb of China's First Emperor as protection in the afterlife. The thousands of detailed life-size terracotta soldier models, alongside chariots and horses, was accidentally discovered in 1974 by local farmers in the Shaanxi province of China and are thought to be replicas of actual soldiers who once lived due to the unique features of each soldier.
