Lachenalia Carnosa
A small but striking South African bulb, Lachenalia carnosa is known for its compact size and unique seasonal charm. It produces two broad, oval-shaped leaves, often with a slightly bumpy or textured surface, adding interest even before it flowers. In late winter erect stems emerge, bearing clusters of small, bell-shaped white flowers, each delicately tipped with magenta.
This species is best grown in a sheltered, well-drained position in full sun to partial shade. It thrives in pots, rockeries or sunny garden beds with good drainage and is naturally summer dormant, re-emerging in cooler months.
