Melicytus alpinus
a unique and hardy New Zealand native shrub known for its dense, rigid, interlacing branches tipped with spines, giving it a distinctive, almost architectural appearance. In November it produces tiny, bell-shaped flowers which are followed by small white berries that hang attractively along the branches.
Ideal for dry and exposed sites, this compact evergreen shrub thrives in full sun to semi-shade with good drainage. Fantastic for coastal gardens, rockeries or as a structural accent in native plantings. Hardy and low maintenance.
