Holden Commodore VE Caprice WM Front Brake Pads - BP1794
Genuine Bosch BP1794 front brake pad set. Bosch part 0 986 AB1 783, also catalogued as DB1765BL. Eight complete sets on hand.
Front axle, and the rears are on the shelf next to them. Our Bosch BP1799, catalogue number DB1766BL, is the rear set for the same cars. One of each does the whole car.
Two numbers on one box, which catches people out. Bosch print the part number as 0 986 AB1 783 but the trade code as BP1794. They do not match and both are correct. Search on either.
What the box names
- Holden Commodore VE
- Holden Caprice WM
Bendix New Zealand list DB1765 far wider than that. Their own catalogue covers:
- Commodore VE 6.0 V8 SS and SS-V, sedan and wagon, 2008 to 2013
- Calais VE 6.0 V8, sedan and wagon, 2006 to 2013
- Caprice WM 6.0 V8, 2006 to 2013
- Statesman WM 6.0 V8, 2006 to 2010
- Caprice WN 6.2 V8, 2015 to 2017
Other sellers add the V6 cars to that, the SV6 and the 3.6 with standard brakes, plus the Chevrolet Lumina WM and the HSV Maloo GXP. Worth checking your exact car rather than assuming from the badge.
Fronts on a VE do the work. On a heavy rear wheel drive car the front pads take most of the braking, so this is the end that wears out first and the set people go looking for.

Fitment
Commodore, Calais, Caprice or Statesman of that era, on the front. Send the rego and we will confirm which brake package the car left the factory with.
Fitting
- Front pads on these are straightforward, but the caliper is heavy. Support it rather than letting it hang on the hose.
- Clean the carrier abutments properly or the new pads will not slide freely.
- Do both sides and take the first few hundred kilometres gently.
- Doing the rears at the same time? We have the matching BP1799 set.
Best fitted by a qualified mechanic.
