The deep black dial is almost completely free of distraction, finished with fine polished gold tone hands, the Gucci signature at twelve and a discreet interlocking GG motif above six. The round gold tone case keeps the design crisp and elegant, allowing the black dial to feel especially deep against the warm polished surround.

The distinctive centre cut leather strap attachment gives the 2040L a character of its own, creating a clean transition from case to strap without the more pronounced triangular lugs seen on other Gucci families.
