Rohan Wealleans — The Star Seed 2026

Known primarily as a painter, Rohan Wealleans is celebrated for building up thick surfaces of paint before carving back into the accumulated layers.

An ongoing edition developed over the past year, The Star Seed is a spin-off from Wealleans’ Orrery series. Each work transforms the harvested surface of his paintings from two-dimensional space into a small sculptural form, bringing together the biological and the celestial.

Is the Star Seed something grown and farmed, or something from outer space? What might emerge from a seed or egg from another world? Riffing on the familiar form of an interior decorative object, or even the currency of a video game, the Star Seed is familiar yet otherworldly, offering more questions than answers.

Each individually numbered work is presented in its own Perspex box with an accompanying envelope and card.
