Lovely Hapopo Pounamu made into Huia Beaks earrings with sterling silver hooks. Carved locally.
Huia birds were held sacred as a symbol of Mana (strength and honour) and leadership. Sadly now extinct, they form a connection between the physical world and the spiritual world, ancestors.
Pounamu or Greenstone is regarded as a stone sacred to the gods by the Māori of New Zealand. As a Taonga -meaning treasured, and it should be worn with respect and pride. Pounamu is a gift from the heart.
