After carefully assessing each piece of pounamu to determine which design suits it best, Tim Steel carves stunning pendants that are of the highest quality and embody the wairua(spirit), of the stone.
In Te Whānau-ā-Apanui, the whai (stingray) is revered as a kaitiaki (guardian) that safeguards the shellfish harvesting areas. According to belief, adhering to proper tikanga (customary practices) will result in abundant shellfish, protected by the stingray.
