- Shannon Turuwhenua

Introducing the Niho Rimu, a uniquely handcrafted piece built from Rimu wood, finished with danish oil.

The Niho (Tooth) symbolizes strength, leadership, and resilience, often linked to two animals - the whale and the shark.

Shannon Turuwhenua is a Wood Sculptor based in North Waikato. He is part of a Whanau-based Collective (Past Present Future) that covers multiple art disciplines. Shannon creates his art from native and exotic timbers from around the country. Where possible the timber is reclaimed/recycled.

Each piece is handcrafted and as a result, no two pieces are exactly the same Shannon takes inspiration from objects in daily life. Recreating them into larger pieces of art.
