I like working with wood that has history. To me, that means it has lived another life before I start working with it. It might have been a beam supporting a house, a chest of drawers storing someone’s clothes, a staircase, or a chair. By the time it reaches me, it’s often worn from years of use. I carefully strip it back to reveal its unique features - grain patterns, nail holes, and subtle cracks.
