ABOUT
Sigrid's solo travels took her to remote parts of New Zealand's back country, and from North Island bush to the ice of southern winters. This is her story.
In the sixties a rumour began to circulate in the New Zealand back country; a good-looking German Sheila had been seen hiking around the bush and mountains, on her own. She'd appeared in the Kaimanawa Ranges, the Urewera country, the Tarawera and several places in the South Island. The rumours persisted into the seventies. The lone German woman had by now been seen at camps and huts from one end of the country to the other, always on her own and always movin' on. That woman was Sigrid Crump, and today she is married to Barry Crump's brother Bill, Sigrid lives near Nelson.
