Anastasia Rickard is a Laboratory Technician, Researcher, Designer, and Traditional Māori weaver.
She loves the synergies between science, inheritance, and the natural world and enjoys being able to use her talents to incorporate traditional practices, her multicultural heritage and technologies, gaining a deeper understanding of the world around her in the process.

Teachings about the baskets of knowledge and the variety of uses of baskets.

• Te Kete Aronui – Knowledge of the natural world and artforms. Knowledge that helps you live in one with the world around you.
• Te Kete Tuatea – Knowledge of learning, teaching and morality.
• History of Harakeke and the uses of Harakeke in the past and present.
• Scientific research summary conducted with Harakeke.
WEAVING WORKSHOP TWO

-Putiputi Creation (1.5hour Wānanga) $75
• Weaving philosophy and tikanga.
• History of Harakeke and the uses of Harakeke in the past and present.
• Scientific research summary conducted with Harakeke.
• How to harvest Harakeke and ongoing care for the Harakeke plant.
• Clean and preparation process of Harakeke.
• Putiputi making and different techniques for making Putiputi.
• Drying process ready for dying method (optional).
• Scientific reasoning for traditional boiling, drying and dying process.
• How to assemble a bouquet and embellish the putiputi.
• Completion of Putiputi by the end of the workshop.
