Ripeka/Cross - Large

The Ripeka/Cross is the internation symbol for Christianity. Maori were introduced to Christianity by missionarries in the early stages of Maori contact with the outside world. The Pounamu Ripeka was a taonga/treasure gifted to those who introduced Christianity to Maori in those early times.
