Flowers Pinot Noir 2019
Description
Founders Joan and Walt Flowers were among the first to plant on top of the mountain ridges, poised majestically against the Sonoma Coast. Its these cold and rugged conditions that allows the Pinot Noir to thrive. Pinot Noir needs a cool climate for the variety to shine, to obtain that hedonistic perfume with red fruit aromas and a wine with density yet freshness, poise, and class. When grown in warm climates the wine is even lighter in colour, lacks perfume, charm, and body, rather showing alcohol and stewed flavours. Flowers true to form, shows cool climate graciousness.
Smells
a perfumed lift of wild red berries, rosehips, forest floor, sandal wood and spice.
Tastes
a plethora of red berry flavours dance across the palate with cranberry and pomegranate nuances adding diversity. This is a pretty and charming Pinot which has depth, complexity, and charm, that enraptures the taste buds and with each new sip more descriptives spring to mind. It keeps you guessing as initially it seems a lighter style, but its true character unfolds before your eyes with a little airtime. A delightful Pinot, drinking well now and will cellar 5 years. Serve with duck, pork or other game meats.
