Ignition Coil - 986 Boxster / 996 / 997 / 987 Boxster and Cayman
Your Porsche is fitted with highly efficient coil-on-plug ignition, saving weight and increasing performance. However, over time exposure to the elements and high temperatures lead to cracks in the insulation of the coil packs, which combined with wear lead to reduced performance, and where the coils are badly worn, misfires and check engine lights.
Luckily, high quality OEM replacements are inexpensive, and a simple DIY task to replace - restoring performance and efficiency. These high-quality Beru coils won t break the bank, but they will do the job. These are the updated design, as introduced with the 997/987 generation. Includes extended Torx head screws for fitment - you can t reuse the originals as they re too short.
You will also have to space out the heat shield that protects your coils by approximately 7mm using some washers, to accommodate the deeper coil pack.
These wee tweaks are worth it - the updated coil pack has a much longer service life, and higher output.
While you re replacing the coils, it s a good time to swap in new spark-plugs, and check your spark-plug tubes for any signs of leaks. We always have these parts in stock, and can give advice about the DIY side of things if needed.
Coils should be replaced as a set (of six), but we sell these individually as sometimes only one goes bad. Price is per coil.
