Bogle Family Vineyards Twenty Acres Chardonnay 2023
The Twenty Acres brand honours the first twenty acres of vines that Warren Bogle planted in 1968. The third generation of farmers, but the pioneering first generation of Bogle winemakers. Each Twenty Acres wine has a small addition of a Bogle heritage varietal.
Winemaking Notes
This sustainably grown Chardonnay represents Clarksburg, the place our family has called home for 6 generations. A generous blend of 11% Chenin Blanc speaks to our history, as the first white grape variety we planted all those years ago. Combining this Chenin Blanc, fermented in stainless steel, with Chardonnay fermented and aged sur lie in new
French oak, brings forth a wine with delicious complexity and food-friendly acidity.
Tasting Notes
On the nose, it opens with vibrant aromas of green apple and ripe Asian pear, hinting at the freshness to come. The Chenin Blanc contributes nuanced notes of honeydew melon. The palate is beautifully layered, starting with a bright acidity that gives it a crisp, food-friendly profile. Notes of toasty nutmeg and clove from 10 months of barrel aging provide a subtle
warmth and complexity, perfectly complementing the creamy texture. The finish is long and luxurious, leaving behind the juicy essence of Meyer lemon meringue, a signature hallmark of this blend
