Blaauwklippen Estate Malbec 2021
The a remarkable wine from one of Stellenbosch's oldest wine farms, established in 1682. Nestled among ancient blue granite boulders on mineral-rich mountain slopes, the estate is dedicated to producing wines that capture the authenticity of rural living.
Handpicked grapes from different blocks are separately destemmed and underwent whole berry fermentation in stainless steel tanks and French oak casks. Daily pump-overs delicately extract tannins during the approximately 21 days of skin contact. Afterwards, malolactic fermentation and maturation occurred in 300L French oak barrels, with 22% being new oak.
It has a complex profile with dark chocolate, mineral, and tobacco nuances supporting an array of abundant fruit notes, including mulberry, cassis, blueberry, blackberry, and plums. The palate showcases plush, chalky tannins with vibrant texture, leading to a fine, aromatic finish with lingering length and a creamy, flinty texture.
A versatile wine, ideal for pairing with various dishes such as beef fillet or Coq au Vin. It can also be enjoyed on its own, whether in front of a cozy fire or slightly chilled (around 18°C) for a refreshing summer red wine experience. This wine embodies the estate's dedication to producing exceptional, well-structured wines with a unique flavour profile.
14.5% ABV.
