Nevis Bluff Central Otago Pinot Gris 2021
The Nevis Bluff Pinot Gris stands out as an exceptional wine, with its inaugural 1998 vintage winning a Gold Medal and the supreme trophy at the 1999 Royal Easter Show. Crafted in a dry and textured style, this Pinot Gris boasts a rich mouthfeel with remarkable persistence and depth.
Aromas of lime, pepper, mango, and pawpaw lead into a palate driven by wet stone minerals, showcasing lychee and spicy textural qualities. The wine is finely scented on the nose, revealing Asian pear, grilled pineapple, warm spice, and dried flower aromas. It offers excellent weight and focus, beautifully supported by a saline texture and well-pitched acidity, culminating in a splendidly structured finish.
The grapes for Nevis Bluff's single vineyard wines are sourced from the L’Attitude Vineyard, situated in the Pisa sub-region of the Cromwell basin. This top-quality vineyard is planted with Pinot Noir, Pinot Gris, and Pinot Blanc, and is certified sustainable through the Sustainable Winegrowing New Zealand (SWNZ) programme.
Nevis Bluff plays a key role in the Central Otago wine industry and is aptly named the ‘Pinot Specialist,’ reflecting the vineyard’s ambition to produce distinctive Pinot Gris and Pinot Noir wines. This wine embodies elegance, balance, and a persistent finish, making it a true standout.
At its best: now to 2026.
