Silver Fern Ring/ Rose Gold
The silver fern, known as ponga in the Maori language, is an exclusive tree fern species native to New Zealand. Its distinctive appearance with silver-white undersides of fronds gives it a captivating allure and its name.
In the moonlit nights, the pale white fronds of the silver fern emit a radiant glow, making it an invaluable aid for navigating through the bush. Maori hunters of the past would utilise fern fronds to mark their trail while catching birds, ensuring a safe route back home. Even today, bush guides endorse this ancient technique as a survival tool to find one's way in the forests if lost.
Beyond its practical significance, the silver fern holds great cultural and symbolic importance. It stands as a representation of strength and a deep connection to the homeland. The unfurling koru of the fern frond symbolises new life and growth.
