Verner Panton
for Vitra 1959

Conceived by Verner Panton in 1959, the Panton chair was developed for serial production in collaboration with Vitra (1967). It was hailed as a sensation and received numerous prizes. One of the earliest models is now in the collection of the Museum of Modern Art in New York. Today the Panton Chair is regarded as a classic of modern furniture design. The original version of the chair in rigid polyurethane foam with a glossy lacquer finish is marketed under the name Panton Chair Classic.

The comfort of the Panton chair results from the combination of a cantilever structure with an anthropomorphic shape. More Less Finishes
