Join Sarita Solvig Blankenburg, founder of Ayurveda New Zealand, and Kirsty van de Geer, founder of HUM Yoga, for a nourishing afternoon exploring how the sister sciences of Ayurveda and Yoga can help us understand, support and honour the changing body through perimenopause, menopause and beyond.

Midlife is a profound transition. As hormones shift, many women experience changes in sleep, energy, digestion, mood, weight, temperature regulation and their overall sense of wellbeing. Ayurveda offers us another way of understanding these changes, not simply as symptoms to manage, but as an important transition that asks us to listen more deeply to our bodies and adapt the way we nourish and care for ourselves.

On arrival, you’ll be welcomed with a cup of Sattva Botanicals Brahmi Brain Boost, a nourishing cacao based Ayurvedic drink infused with Brahmi and warming spices, traditionally used to support mental clarity, focus and a calm, balanced mind. Take a moment to arrive, connect and settle in as we begin this nourishing afternoon together.

Kirsty will then guide a gentle, nurturing Yoga practice designed to nourish the changing body, support the nervous system and create space to slow down and listen to what we truly need during this season of life.

From there, Sarita will lead a 90 minute talk and conversation exploring Ayurveda for perimenopause and menopause.

Discover how Ayurveda understands the transition into midlife and why symptoms can look so different from one woman to another. We’ll explore the role of the Doshas, Agni (digestive fire), nourishment, daily routines, Ayurvedic herbal medicine and lifestyle practices, along with cleansing and traditional Ayurvedic treatments that can support greater balance during this time.

Most importantly, you’ll discover practical ways to work with your changing body rather than feeling that you need to fight against it.

This is an afternoon of ancient wisdom, embodied practice, conversation and sisterhood, an invitation to move beyond the idea that midlife is something to endure or fix and instead recognise the wisdom, vitality and feminine power that can emerge from this transition.

You’ll leave with practical tools to nourish yourself through midlife, a deeper understanding of your changing body and a renewed sense of connection to yourself.

Watch our intro video here About Kirsty van de Geer

Kirsty’s yoga journey began long before she stepped into teaching. What started as a personal practice gradually became a deeply woven part of her everyday life — a path of healing, transformation, self-inquiry and connection. Teaching emerged naturally as a way to share the depth and meaning that yoga had brought to her own life.

Kirsty is the founder of HUM Yoga in Grey Lynn, Auckland, a space and community born from a shared devotion to cultivating awareness, connection and compassion. At HUM, she holds a simple belief: that we are not separate from one another, from nature, or from the deeper rhythms of life. Through yoga, we return to the hum — the quiet pulse of breath, movement, energy and presence that lives within us, between us and around us.

Her teaching is inclusive, soulful and gently creative. Drawing from movement, somatic inquiry, breath, meditation, philosophy and mantra, Kirsty invites students to meet themselves with curiosity, compassion and presence. Her classes can be playful or profound, dynamic or deeply still, but are always rooted in meaning and an invitation to experience yoga as something lived rather than simply practised on the mat.
