Bunnahabhain 'Thompson Bros' 2013 / 11 years old 56.1%

This is an example of Bunnahabhain's lesser known Staoisha spirit, this release is a vatting of two ex Oloroso Hogsheads, filled in 2013 with Bunnahabhain's peated spirit. The nose opens up as you'd expect, with earthy smoke, glazed ham, boozy plums, tobacco and aged leather. On the palate there is smoked pork, redcurrant and bramble jelly, mezcal and green tea. Cracked pepper and ripe berries linger on the finish with gentle wafts of sweet smoke.
