Burnside 'Cadenhead' 28 years old 46%

Burnside is the name given to the 'teaspooned' whisky produced by William Grant & Sons, owners of the Balvenie and Glenfiddich distilleries in Speyside. This unusual term comes from the practice of the addition of a tiny amount of whisky from another distillery so that a cask cannot be sold as a single malt or under the distillery's name. This 28 year old Burnside (teaspooned Balvenie) shows its age with a complex of aroma of old leather books, fragrant honeysuckle, gorse bush and touches of chocolate. The palate explodes with rich fruits, with papaya and gooseberry offering sweet and tart notes, finishing heavily on golden syrup and liqourice.
